Everyday, you can visit Woot.com for a deal. It might be a discounted laptop computer, a digital camera, a conference tchotchke, or, in this case, a pair of excellent water filtration pitchers from Clear2O. The catch is: There's only one deal every day. That's right; Woot only sells one thing at a time. When that single item sells out, the deal is over for the day.

So maybe you missed your chance to get two Clear2O Water Filtration Pitchers for $14.99. That's ok, because there's a free alternative right in your own home. That's right, if you don't have a filter, you can always drink water from the tap. Believe it or not, most people in the United States can drink their tap water without fear. Going back to the tap is important: Bottled water is a huge drain of resources and generator of plastic waste. Plus, keeping a pitcher of water in your refrigerator can actually increase its energy efficiency.

If tap water is so safe, then why use a filter at all? This is a good question and for most people the answer is taste. A quality water filter can remove some of the minerals that can give tap water an unpleasant taste or texture. There are a number of excellent water filters on the market, the trick is determining which one is best for you and your water.

You may have missed your chance to score a cheap pair of quality filter pitchers today, but we still have to thank Woot for reminding us about the importance of drinking from that tap instead of the bottle.
