Ah, bamboo. It seems as though more and more organic materials these days are utilizing bamboo for their products. From yoga mats to baskets, bamboo has certainly becoming quite the popular resource. Nonetheless, I still feel like its multiple uses are still underestimated by many.

Why is bamboo important?
Bamboo is the fasted growing woody type plant on the earth. It takes only a short about of time to fully grow. Therefore, it can be chopped down, used, and it'll grow right back. This is pretty progressive considering the trees that we chop down take decades to grow back.

Ways in which bamboo is beginning to be used.

Flooring. Why chop down trees for flooring when we can use bamboo? Not only is it a renewable resource, but it looks pretty great, too!

Bicycles. It's true. In countries like Australia and Denmark, bamboo is being used to replace aluminum in bicycles. Incredible, right?

Paper. Instead of killing trees to make paper, why don't we just start using paper made from bamboo? The product is already being sold all over the world.

Instruments. Musical instruments actually eat up quite a bit of wood. Choosing to support companies who use bamboo will help to give the industry a boost in the right direction.

Toys. Even toys are being made from bamboo these days. Your kids can play without doing any damage to the planet.

The key to getting more bamboo products in the stores is to demand them. Suppliers can't put these products on the shelves if no one is buying them. So make sure you buy the bamboo alternatives whenever you get a chance.
