This lawn is your lawn, this lawn is my lawn...
Gather 'round the laptop, kids! Roger Dairon and his family are planting a vegetable garden set to the tune of Woody Guthry's "This land is your land" in a wholesome, sweet bid to get the White House to do the same on its own front lawn. Check it out.
Everyone's talking about buying local food. Well Dairon, founder of Kitchen Gardeners International, a group of 6000 international green thumbers, rightly believe that you just can't get more local than your yard! With his charming 'video' (more like stop and go photography), Dairon builds and plants a garden in front of his own white house in lieu of the DC-based abode...
But not for long! Dairon wants YOU to sign the White House Food Garden petition requesting that the new president elect grow an organic garden after he moves in.
Dairon reminds viewers of the popularity of Victory Gardens that were planted during World Wars I and II. These gardens not only reduced the pressure on the public food supply during wartime, but were inspiring morale boosters. Plus, food gardens have grown on the White House Grounds before. Now that's history worth repeating itself!
