I'm not really advocating a mass exodus from the office, just my sly way of letting you know that I won't be in today (boss, take note!)

You may ask yourself why I deserve a day off during the week. The answer is, I don't. Other than the fact that it is my birthday today. Normally I wouldn't take the day off work for my birthday, nor would I advocate it for others, but this is a big one.

Today I am 50.

Now I am at the age where I can say that I will take the day off for my birthday. I will read. I will play the piano and I won't cook anything at all.

I will rejoice in the love for my wonderful husband and children. I will give thanks that I still have my mother and my mother-in-law. I will remember my father and brother and father-in-law who should still be here but are not.

I will say, do not buy me gifts, I already have them.
