I think it's a cultural thing, but my parents discuss their grave plot at the family table…a lot. They've been making payments on a plot in a cemetery so the entire Pak clan (all 4 of us) will be able to be together in the after life. They don't find this depressing or morbid, they discuss these arrangements as if they were buying a used Toyota. Maybe it's because I've been desensitized, but thinking about how I want my remains stored has never been a big thing, since I have a plot apparently waiting for me. But suddenly, my parents have recently sold their plot (advertised in the local Korean newspaper) and now we don't have such definite plans for the hereafter.
Well, turns out the topic of what to do with your body when you go is a very hot topic these days…who knew? (I thought my parents were just freaks.) And it turns out being buried is just about the worst (and most boring) way to go. People are practically being turned into pencils! My friend, Alejandro and his brother Daniel, both artists, just did this animation about the whole topic, with I think about as much style, humor and romance as becomes death.

P.S. I think we both agreed that being wrapped in bio-degradable cotton and buried on our own plot of land, under a tree would be the most fitting.
XOXO
