Juicing is all the rage but it wasn't until recently that I got started in all the fun. Now I love to juice! In the morning I make a fruity juice and then later a veggie juice. It's also tons easier on the planet because you don't have to throw away the plastic and glass bottles that once housed your favorite juicy delight. The juice also has to be kept cold the whole time as it travels across the country to get to you. You can also control the ingredients that you throw into the juicer ensuring that you use what's available seasonally, not exotic juices that would never be grown anywhere near where you live. One of the problems with bottled juices is that many of their valuable nutrients and enzymes are lost during the bottling process.
It's also a great way to include super foods like hemp, acai, and pomegranate juice. I got the Jack Lalanne juicer and although it was quite the investment, I think it's worth it because I've heard that the motor can break down on the cheaper varieties.
Here's a great recipe to get started with for a healthy veggie tonic:
Garden Tonic
Handful of organic spinach
3 stalks of celery
2 stalks of asparagus
1 large tomato
From Healing Daily
Method: Throw it in the juicer and voila! Use what's available by substituting the tomato for what ever is growing in your area like carrots or peppers.
Carrot Surprise
6 medium carrots
3 Apples
Inch of Ginger
Method: Juice it up!
