Capitalism thrives, generally speaking, on new opportunities for business. Where there is a market, there is a product. Even something rooted in great intentions, like quitting smoking, will generate businesses in the end. This shouldn't have to be a bad thing, but unfortunately, it's not always that eco-friendly. From patches to gum, quitting smoking is starting to produce products and respective packaging that pollute our planet and aren't always that easy to recycle. My answer? Try to quit smoking in a more natural way.
If you're interested in quitting smoking more naturally, here are some things that you can try:
Herbal Methods
A lot of people will swear by the power of St. John's Wort. Recent studies have pointed to it actually helping to aide smokers in lessening their cravings.
Replace the tobacco
A lot of my friends have been able to quit smoking by simply replacing their craving for tobacco with a craving for something healthy. For example, get in the habit of grabbing some juice, a smoothie, or natural gum when you're craving a cigarette.
Reward yourself
Reward methods have long assisted in quitting just about anything. From bad behavior in children to keeping prisoners in line in jail, rewards are a great way to sculpt behavior. Set up a reward system for yourself. For instance, if you have been spending $20 a week on cigarettes, think of something for yourself worth around the same that you'll be allowed to purchase at the end of the week if you don't smoke.
Cold turkey
Although cold turkey seems to be the hardest way to quit, it is certainly not impossible. Exercise the power your mind has over your body and practice that control every day.
