Whether you love them for Q-tips, carrot sticks, or candy, plastic bags can be addictive - and they can make you feel guilty if thrown away after a single use.

Enter husband and wife team Jeannie Piekos and Randy Anderson and their save-the-day invention, Bag-E-Wash.

Tired of trying to wash baggies out by hand in an effort to be eco-conscious, Jeannie tinkered away at a solution that has transformed into a simple but genius devise: a dishwasher accessory that allows food storage bags to be washed for reuse. With it, you can:

  • Save money: According to its website, one box of 30 gallon-size bags washed with Bag-E-Wash and reused 50 times each will save you $150.00.
  • Save the environment: This same amount keeps 1,500 bags out of landfills!

According to Bag-E-Wash's website, most metropolitan recycling programs do not recycle plastic bags. Bag-E-Wash cites a July 2002 Environmental Protection Agency report that stated that Americans discarded more than 3.3 million tons of low and high density polyethylene bags in 2000 and only 5.4% were recovered and recycled.

Best part? It only costs about ten bucks and will last a lifetime. Thanks to Bag-E-Wash, you can be proud and loud about your baggie love. Finally!
