It seems to me like more and more people these days know to go 'organic' when it comes to their fruit. Many of us understand some basic reasons for why organic is better, but there are also some fundamental differences between organic fruit and…well…regular fruit. Hollywood Green talked a bit about organic foods but are some of the differences that you should know.

-Organic foods do, absolutely, reduce your exposure to pesticides in your food. And that is a good thing!

-Buying local organic food reduces the cost of fuel to get food grown somewhere else into your grocery store.

-Some foods have higher residual pesticide rates than others. These foods are best bought organic as to avoid these pesticides. Here are some examples of the fruit you should buy organic: Apples, peaches, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, pears, grapes, and raspberries.

Thus far, there isn't any research to back up the thought that organic food will make you a healthier person, per se. However, there is something to be said for the reducing of chemicals and fuel emissions, right?

This post is inspired by Hollywood Green: Episode 5.
