Mark Their Place

With the spring party season in full swing, everyone is in the market for tons of paper products. While setting the table with elegant place cards makes your guests feel extra special, it can also add an excessive amount of waste to landfills. This season host a green celebration similar to the ones you see on Supper Club with the latest green trend, sustainable place cards. Be a savvy green host with some crafty ideas that reduce your carbon footprint and save tons of money at the same time. Even more impressive, your creativity will score supreme hosting points.

  • Save your corks. Not only does it give you an excuse to indulge in a nice glass of wine, but your old wine corks can serve as handy place card holders. Simply shave off the bottom and cut a slit in the top. Pair with a place card made with recycled stock and you'll add a rustic ambiance to your next green get together.
  • Jog their memories. Using old pictures of your friends as place cards not only marks their seats, they take your guests back to a special memory they have with you. Your unique place cards will also ensure excellent conversation as a great story is sure to go along with each picture. Use old frames from around the house to stand your pictures up or just lay them flat on the table.
  • Say it with chocolate . Writing your guests name on a dessert plate with chocolate sauce means there's no chance your place card will go to waste. You can also use caramel sauce or butterscotch, any sweet sauce will do. If you want to go all out, make decorative sugar cookies and write your guests names with icing.
  • Add a natural touch. Make it a beach themed party by tying your collected seashells onto recycled card stock and writing your guest's name. Starfish and sand dollars make great ornamental pieces.
  • Buy local berries. Add a spring touch by cutting the base of huge local berries and then cutting a slit in the top to hold your recycled place card.
