Last week was National Pie Day and I missed it. Normally my son is on the case, but this year it slipped under the radar. Usually he and his friends bake pies and then meet up in a park somewhere and they all eat pie.

I guess he got this from me because I love pies, especially savoury ones. I generally think putting a crust on something is a tasty idea, so when I saw this item at Wisebread, I had to write about it. It suggests dressing up your leftovers by putting them in a pie and convincing your family that they are getting a whole new dinner.I was looking back at some of my posts to see what could be put into a pie and I think the kale stew and the burritos would both work. Maybe even the vegetarian chili would work with a cornmeal crust on top.

Wisebread also suggested a few things from your pantry that you could make into a pie in a pinch. Check out your refrigerator and your cupboard and see what kind of pie you can whip up for dinner tonight. ::Wisebread
