Sixty million Americans put fire to food during the summer, but typical grilling and barbeques leave no small footprint behind; our barbeque celebrations cause 225,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide to be released into the atmosphere. Using strategies like grilling less meat, sourcing the food from your local farmers' market, buying as much as possible in bulk, and setting out the recycling and compost bins instead of the garbage can, you can still be the host that boasts the most roast without causing undue damage to the planet.
