We haven't run the air conditioning in weeks now. The crisp, autumn air feels clean and free of the thick blanket of humidity so much a part of South Carolina summers. It's the perfect time for a party. These recipes highlight the best in autumn flavors and my favorite recipe, the pumpkin spice margarita, will be such a hit, it won't be the last time that you make them.

Plan a Harvest Party

  • Sip on a Pumpkin Spice Margarita.
  • To me ritas are primarily a summer thing, until now. The pumpkin spice margarita gives you a new found reason to drink tequila on through the holidays. These are great for autumn get togethers, Thanksgiving, and even as a fabulous substitute for your standard eggnog at Christmas. This eco-friendly version makes slurping on a margarita throughout the holidays a-OK.

    Cost: $45.00

  • Start Off With Butternut Squash Soup.
  • Everyone has their favorite recipe for butternut squash soup and I love this one from Chef Neal Fraser. It's a great way to start off a meal and it only takes five ingredients. Soups are an easy way to feed a crowd for cheap and this one is a people pleaser.

    Cost: $11.00

  • Try Kelly Rossiter's Lasagna with Fall Vegetables and Sage Béchamel.
  • This is lasagna with a bit more bling in the form of a decadent béchamel sauce. Best of all you can assemble the lasagna earlier in the day and then pop it in the oven when your guests arrive or an hour before you want to serve it. Although this is a vegetarian dish, it is hearty enough that no one will miss the meat.

    Cost: $20.00

  • Indulge in this Deep Dish Apple Pie.
  • This deep dish apple pie displays your prized fall apples in the perfect manner. While it's definitely a treat, it's made with agave nectar, organic flour, local butter, and local apples so it's impact on the planet is minimal.

    Cost : $23.00

    Total: $99.00
