Some people try pickup lines, others try flowers, but according to science, the trick to attracting females might be a much simpler proposition.

From dancing with flair to choosing the right clothes, augmenting scent to aligning features, there are a number simple things that can make anyone more pleasing to the female eye. It might not turn John Hodgman into George Clooney, but they could help attract the eye of a future soul mate.

5. Dance Flamboyantly

In at number five, it turns out John Travolta was onto something—women dig men who can carve up the dance floor with extravagant moves.

Psychologists at Northumbria University fitted motion capture sensors on 19 male volunteers who were asked to dance to a German dance track. The men who's repertoires included larger and more variable movements of the neck and torso were considered the most attractive by the ladies.

4. Wear Red

In at number four, we all know about the lady in red but did you know a gentleman in red is more alluring and sexually attractive to the opposite sex?

A study by the University of Rochester showed that cherry color's charm ultimately lies in its ability to make men appear more powerful. Women view men in red as higher in status, more likely to make money and more likely to climb the social ladder.

3. Ooze Pheromones

When it comes to sexual chemistry, the nose knows best. Pheromones are at number three in our Top 5 Ways to Attract a Female.

These odorless chemicals excreted from the body have been shown to increase sexual attraction in humans. Working with male twins in NYC, ABC news reports that the twin who was given added pheromones was twice as successful with women that the twin who wasn’t.

2. Daddy Look-a-Like

In at number two, studies shows that women are more likely to be attracted to partners who look like their father, if they had a positive relationship with him.

British and Polish psychologists conducted an experiment on group of women to find that women who had a positive relationship with their fathers preferred images of men who resembled their fathers, while those that had negative relationships did not.

1. Get Symmetrical

In at number one, ladies can't get enough of symmetrical males—which shows he has the genetic goods, is healthy and is a good choice for mating.

An evolutionary biologist from the University of New Mexico explains that women rated symmetrical members of the opposite sex as more attractive than their less symmetrical counterparts, and that men with higher degrees of symmetry enjoy more sexual partners than men of lower symmetry.
