Solar-powered Haiti
While Haiti lost much of its infrastructure during the massive earthquake earlier this year, there's one thing it still has in abundance: sunshine.
Dozens of companies have donated their solar products to the earthquake ravaged nation from solar-powered flashlights to solar-powered outdoor lighting to ovens powered by the sun. Even some of Haiti's new traffic lights are powered by solar panels.
This comes partially as a result of $1.15 billion pledge to help rebuild Haiti, with a special focus on clean-energy sources.

CHASE vs. Mountains
With the Massey coal mine tragedy still reverberating across the country, an online activist campaign seeks to expose one of the biggest funders of coal giant Massey Energy—CHASE Manhattan bank.
A recent investigative report found that JP Morgan CHASE has backed $8.5 trillion in loan guarantees to Massey Energy and other coal companies financing the destructive practice of MTR mountaintop coal mining. The campaign—called Mountains Rule!—will award a metal badge of honor for anyone who cancels their CHASE account.
According to the website MountainsRule.com, both Bank of America and Wells Fargo have ceased funding of Mountaintop mining in Appalachia. The site is asking CHASE to do the same.
