Painted Glacier
Eduardo Gold, a 55 year old Peruvian inventor is hoping to restore an extinct glacier in the Peruvian Andes by painting it white.
While splashing boulders with eco friendly white paint made from lime, egg white and water, may seem like a crazy idea—there actually science behind it. White paint reflects sunlight, sending solar radiation back out into space, and a colder surface temperature could cause mountain glaciers to reform.
Eduardo Gold was one of the 26 winners in the World Bank’s "100 Ideas to Save the Planet" competition held last year.

Climate Akomplice
Last week the uber cool fashion company Akomplice launched a new t-shirt line and environmental campaign rolled into one. The goal? To get people to paint the town white.
Last year Stephen Chu made a bold statement: "Making roads and roofs a paler color could have the equivalent effect of taking every car in the world off the road for 11 years." So the Akomplice founders Patrick and Mike McCarney decided to lend their marketing prowess to the cause by packaging their T’s in a paint bucket with instructions for reducing air conditioning demand using white paint.
Akomplice is hoping to get the word out in a big way. At the launch event last week they announced they would be painting a prominent building in LA white to start the city down a path towards global cooling.
