Naomi's Blood Diamonds
Diamonds are a girl's best friend….unless you are Naomi Campbell. The supermodel is making headlines for allegedly receiving blood diamonds from Ex Liberian President, Charles Taylor.

Prosecutors say Taylor traded with rebels in Sierra Leone, giving them weapons in return for diamonds and tricking individuals like Campbell into smuggling them out of the country. Tens of thousands of people died in conflicts in Sierra Leone in the 80s and 90s. Mr. Taylor denies having anything to do with the trade in so-called blood diamonds.

Although reportedly excited by the gift, Ms Campbell said she later gave the stones to the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.

Earth Melt
Friday brought us news of yet another massive glacier breaking apart in the Arctic—this one 4x the size of Manhattan—from Greenland's Petermann Glacier.

This comes on the heels of a shocking report by NASA Goddard Institute which shows the first 6 months of 2010 the hottest since record-keeping begin in 1880. The report looked at atmospheric and oceanic temperatures above the global mean temperature of 14 deg celsius, with the decade's average January temperature nearly twice as high as the decade prior.

Though scientists are careful to say the dramatic glacial melting may not be due to global warming, you don't have to be a scientist to put 2 & 2 together.

Vegan Clinton
Circling back to the topic of Ex Presidents, in the lead up to his daughter Chelsea's wedding, People Magazine is reporting that Bill Clinton adopted a vegetarian, no dairy diet. The result? The former junk food loving President lost a whopping 20 pounds. Good news for his waistline and the planet.
