Iceland Lures
A radical new proposal could see Iceland become to journalists what the Cayman Islands is to wealthy tycoons—with far reaching ramifications for environmental reporting.

Icelandic Modern Media Initiative is looking to establish the world's first off-shore publishing center and is hoping to entice investigative journalists by compelling Icelandic legislators to pass the strongest combination of source protection and freedom of speech laws in the world.

The proposal was drafted with help of whistle blower website, Wikileaks, which published information on 400 tons of toxic waste dumped in the Ivory Coast last year, when UK libel laws prevented the BBC from covering it.
