Fallujah Birth Defects
Doctors in Fallujah are reporting an epidemic of birth defects, with many blaming depleted uranium weapons used by the US during and after the invasion of Iraq.
Doctors told the BBC that the number of heart defects found in newborn babies is 13 times than normal. A spokesman for the U.S. military, Michael Kilpatrick, said though it takes public health concerns "very seriously...no studies to date have indicated environmental issues resulting in specific health issues."
With as many as three cardiac defects reported in hospitals each day, officials in Fallujah are warning women to postpone having children.

Bluefin Ban
Bluefin Tuna is considered more endangered than tigers or giant pandas, yet it continues to be served at high-end sushi restaurants around the world.
However a new ruling by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species may bring the practice to an end—by making it illegal to sell Atlantic Bluefin Tuna between countries. While Japan is expected protest the ban, the EU, UK and US are all expected to back it.
The upcoming 175 country meeting in Doha, Qatar, will also most likely see a crackdown on ivory sales in Tanzania, tiger farms in China and selling of polar bear skins in Canada.

Sarah Palin Reality TV
Sarah Palin is shopping a reality show about Alaska's wilderness. The ex-Alaskan governor and reality show mogul Mark Burnett have been making the Hollywood rounds pitching a "Planet Earth meets Alaska meets her family" show. One hopes the only wolf shooting will be with a camera.
