Eco-Brand Confusion
A special investigation by New Scientist magazine reveals the truth about eco-brands, highlighting the differences between consumer perceptions and the environmental realities of industries and companies.
Earthsense, a green consumer pollster, asked 30,000 shoppers to rate a variety of companies based on their 'greenness' on a scale of 1 to 10. This data was compared to data by Trucost about the company's actual environmental performance. The results revealed just how confused consumers really are.
Consumers had the best idea about what makes a green company when it came to the technology sector. While Apple has greenest notebooks, Dell had a slightly smaller overall environmental impact score.

Malibu on Edge
A war is brewing in the exclusive beachside enclave of Malibu where Dave Evans—aka U2's The Edge—is looking to build a 156 acre development.
The development would feature five houses, including his own, which he claims will set a new benchmarks for sustainability—including lead-shaped copper roofs and a swimming pool designed to ward off wild fires.
Malibu conservationists think differently with mounting concerns about the massive construction project and the enclave's ongoing environmental impact.
