Secret Chemicals
A loophole in the regulatory system has allowed nearly two-thirds of the chemicals introduced onto the market in the last 27 years to be kept secret.
A new report by the Environmental Working Group reveals that the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act which embargos "trade secrets" has resulted in the public having no access to ¼ of all chemicals listed on the EPA?s master inventory.
The group's analysis says secrecy poses a direct threat to human health, blocking access to information about chemicals used in products specifically intended for children.
