Chinese Reprimand
A top Chinese negotiator has been removed from his post as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs as punishment over failure of the Copenhagen climate talks.
Hong Kong newspaper reports that He Yafei had been punished for failing to ease relations between China, the US and Europe. During heated negotiations, He apparently described his U.S. counterpart as "lacking common sense" and refused to allow rich countries to set a target to cut emissions by 2050.
In public, China has hailed the summit as "significant and positive" but privately it's been deemed a "PR disaster".

Green Media Dip
Here's some sobering news—media coverage of the environment was down in 2009 compared with the previous two years.
Despite a jump in scientific evidence on global warming and the lead up to a UN summit on the issue, 2009 saw environmental stories account for a dismal 1.5% of all media stories, down from 1.7% in 2007 and 2008, according to a Pew study of 55 media outlets.
The study however ended December 6 and so did not take into account the surge of press around the Copenhagen climate talks.

As if New York City wasn't enough of a buzz, there's promising signs that a ban on urban beekeeping will be lifted after the health department gave its initial okay on Thursday.
