Bloom Box
Bloom Energy, a Silicon Valley's cleantech start-up venture, officially launched today. The company's Bloom Box has generated much buzz and skepticism after a 60 Minutes spot aired on Sunday.
Founder K.R. Sridhar has raised $400 million for his Bloom Box fuel cell. Sridhar claims the Bloom Box will be in households within ten years at a cost of only $3000—that's down from $800,000 for a similar box today. But so far there's no word on price per kilowatt of capacity or efficiency which are the two most important things when it comes to fuel cells.

Ecobici Mexico
First came Bicing in Barcelona, then Velib in Paris followed by D.C. Now it's Ecobici in Mexico City, the newest public bike-sharing program.
The initial phase of Eco Bici includes 85 stations with over 1100 bikes, making it the largest bike sharing system in North America. Stations are located about 300 meters from each other and bikes can by used for 30 minute trips. The annual cost of joining is 300 pesos or 23 US dollars. It's expected 24,000 people will use Mexico City's Ecobici—which will hopefully help reduce pollution in one of the smoggiest cities on Earth.

Cuckoo Bumblebee
A rare bumblebee species has been rediscovered in Scotland after 50 years. The Cuckoo Bumblebee is characterized by their lack of social skills and inability to collect pollen. Instead the bumblebees choose to invade the colonies of other bees, killing the resident queen and enslaving the workers to feed her and her young.
