That's another way of saying the festival in western Michigan has been canceled for this year. What a bummer for music fans (including a guy from Bay City) who were looking forward to this year's festival for a dose of good music and environmental do-gooding. In 2009, the town of Rothbury hosted acts like Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, The Black Crowes, STS9, Guster, The Hold Steady and dozens of others.
Rothbury organizers said there won't be a 2010 event during this year's July 4 holiday due in part to recording and touring schedules of various artists.
"The result for this year is that we are not able to move forward with the integrity and high standards that we demand from ourselves and for the festival," said Jeremy Stein, with Madison House Presents.
Stein said 2011 is still a go.
"This event is something very special, and we are unwilling to potentially tarnish what ROTHBURY is, and can become, by working under conditions that will produce anything less than a magical experience. Our efforts are certainly not coming to an end."??
Rothbury was honored with a Greener Festival award for the second year in a row following the 2009 event.
Organizers worked with The Spitfire Agency to make the event as close to zero-waste as possible.
