The Alliance for Climate Education, or ACE, has come up with a pretty clever way to get the young 'uns thinking about living green. It's a sort of interactive hip hop video that first requires you to enter your name before viewing. Then, a music video ensues featuring a woman who's evidently burned out on dating too many ungreen gentlemen.
Your name floats by in various guises, she rattles off the eco-sins of her past suitors--leaving lights on, driving SUVs, etc--and then, guess who ends up potentially being our poor environmentally inclined heroine's salvation?
Yes indeed. The video is goofy, but winkingly so--it lands somewhere between a parody and tribute to hip hop videos. But it's well done, and the conceit could be enough to snag the attention of the many youthful, ADD-inflicted internet surfers that comprise that generation. Which is fantastic--we especially need to be educating the younger generation on the importance of resource conservation, energy efficiency, and limiting consumption--things they'd certainly rather hear less about.
Any strides in involving post-teenagers, teenagers and preteens in the debate--ACE aims for the under-25 demographic--are more than welcome. Check out the video for yourself at the Alliance for Climate Education and declare your energy independence by signing their online petition.
