The folks at Global Inheritance are keeping it cool in the remaining days of 2009. The Los Angeles nonprofit is looking for volunteers for the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado (brrr). They're also offering people a chance to have their art immortalized on recycling containers at the 2010 Coachella music festival. And festival tickets are included for 20 winning artists.

First, on the Winter X Games. Global Inheritance is working with ESPN to help keep the mountains clear, cut energy use and educate spectators who show up.

The group is looking of volunteers, and hopes to hear from high school and college students who want to help out. The 14th games are Jan. 28-31.

Now, for Coachella 2010, in April in California.

Global Inheritance is looking for the next recycling bin Picasso, or Basquiat.

The contest is cleverly called TRASHed. Twenty finalists will receive tickets and VIP passes for the 2010 festival. Their art will be seen by conscious concert-goers, and later by school kids, because the artsy bins will be displayed in schools throughout Southern California after Coachella is over. The winning artists will be selected on Jan. 31. Get your bins ready.
