Jim Doble/Elemental Design

For over 20 years, Jim Doble has passionately devoted his time to making new sounds from found materials for his handmade percussion instruments. He's created them for professional musicians, schools, science and children's museums, music therapy centers, and novices who want to learn a new instrument. Jim's Elemental Design studio makes soothing sounding instruments from salvaged, recycled materials and stone.

Having recently written about making handmade musical instruments from repurposed materials, I had read about the theory of "sound is touch." Sound is considered to be something hitting your ear. Sound is used in music therapy and sound healing. Jim sees his instruments as being useful in sound healing and music therapy. He describes why here.
