Five decades after Dr. Jane Goodall stepped onto the shores of Lake Tanganyika to further her study of chimpanzees, her work as a conservationist and primatologist is known around the world—and the even marking this milestone anniversary includes a benefit concert hosted by Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds.

Matthews, who has made his respect for the environment clear by partnering with the Green Music Group and Reverb to put an eco-friendly spin on his tours with the Dave Matthews Band, will take to the stage at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., this Thursday alongside fellow guitarist Tim Reynolds as part of Gombe 50: "a global celebration of Jane Goodall's pioneering chimpanzee research and inspiring vision for our future." The evening will open with a welcome from Goodall herself—and while the general admission tickets sold out in a matter of minutes, the VIP packages are still available: along with admission, you'll get into a private, pre-concert reception where you can meet the scientist and the musicians, one of Goodall's books (complete with her autograph), and an up-front seat for a clear view of the entire performance.

Though the VIP seats aren't cheap—they're priced at $1,250 per person—all of the proceeds go toward the work of the Jane Goodall Institute and they're almost entirely tax-deductible. And when you consider the conservation efforts of the Institute—which protects chimpanzee's habitats, encourages community-based programs, and oversees the youth program Roots & Shoots—you realize you're making a donation to work that's truly invaluable.
