The nominees are out for the 20th Annual Environmental Media Awards, a green version of the Oscars or Emmys. Among the hopefuls are Avatar, The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation and Disneynature Oceans.

Awards from the nonprofit Environmental Media Association will be handed out on Oct. 16 at the Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles. Toyota and Lexus are the major sponsors of the event.

The nominee list is illuminating. Who knew there were so many films and TV shows with environmental messages. Green is part of pop culture these days. Just don't forget about turning words into action.
