Welcome to Planet Green and Hessnatur's Eco T-shirt Design Challenge, the competition that stitches together sustainability and solid design—one organic cotton T-shirt at a time.

Why a measly little tee, you ask?

Organic Cotton Versus Conventional

The simple wardrobe staple is anything but insignificant considering one conventional cotton-based tee requires a staggering one-third of a pound of pesticides and fertilizers and around 700 gallons of water to make! When you consider that our skin is like a sponge, porous by nature—just think of all the pesticides we accumulate touting chemically fertilized cotton. Scary, we know and so not cradle-to-cradle.

An organic cotton T-shirt, on the other hand, requires zero of the toxic ingredients its conventional counterpart guzzles up—and is usually rain-fed as opposed to irrigated—using up less water. The difference is dramatic and proves that opting for organic cotton does make a dent in creating a healthier, non-toxic and natural resource rich world—and a healthier you.

Organic T-Shirts: Sustainability Up Your Sleeve

With this in mind, we’ve teamed up with Hessnatur, the sustainable clothing brand with a reputation for clean, sleek design and a commitment to low-impact and organic fabrics, dyes and manufacturing.

We want to spread the sustainable message to the world that one organic T-shirt can make a difference. So we’re turning to you for help. We asked you to design a print for Hessnatur's basic organic cotton tee that makes an eco-statement, visually, textually or both - and you responded.

Here are 50 of the original, bold and criminally good looking designs we received and asked you to vote on! You responded, and our judges choose a winner from among your top picks.

Winner Announced!
