Weddings are as diverse as the couples who excitedly plan them, but they share at least one thing in common—they can all be made green. That's right. We can write all we want that the greenest wedding is the smallest wedding (that seems true enough, fewer people = fewer impact, vegetarian meal or not) but the truth is you're going to have the kind of wedding you want, and why shouldn't you? You've found the love of your life, (or suitable sugar daddy or whatever it is you're looking for) and want to celebrate with friends and family. Like most things green, the thing to do is to make smart, less carbon intensive choices along the way.
Sure, downsizing your wedding is good solid advice, but if you're set on something larger why not skip the cut flowers and opt for local monochromatic fruit in sexy antique vases instead? Or opt for local, organic flowers? Instead of a destination wedding, maybe something closer can do just as well (a local beach say instead of a far-off one). Then again, if a destination wedding is a must, why not serve vegetarian food on reusable plates. Then for others, a small, local wedding with a vegan menu and acoustic band paid in bartered goods is the only acceptable wedding for a truly green couple. The point is any of these options can make for a good "green wedding." The thing to do is prioritize and make green choices where you can.
