Each year, about 130 million cell phones are tossed, representing about 65,000 tons of e-waste in America. Only about 5% of those wasted cell phones are recycled. It's hard to imagine why any cell phones at all end up in landfills when recycling your used cell phone is getting easier and easier.

There are loads of ways to recycle your cell phone. But if you're looking for an easy way to recycle it without even leaving the house, check out a service provided by Cricket, a wireless voice and broadband Internet service provider.

Cricket is hoping to boost recycling rates by offering printable pre-paid postage for sending in your old cell phone for recycling. All you have to do is visit the site, enter in basic mailing info, and you're able to print out a free, pre-paid shipping label to send in your phone for recycling.

The company also states that non-profit Rebuilding Together will be getting a piece of the proceeds from the program. So your old phone is not only being properly disposed of, but will also help in a small way to benefit the rebuilding of communities.
