Despite being one of the smaller rooms in most homes, the modern bathroom serves many purposes. It's a sanctuary, a room for pampering, and where we clean ourselves, but it's also where myriad household toxins lurk, and where much of the average home's water goes right down the drain. But don't fret. There are so many ways to green your bathroom design, you'll never have to waste water or pollute the environment again. Read our Green Materials Guide for Bathroom Designs to learn more about the ideas and materials that'll make your bathroom more about zen relaxation than wasting water; here are a few tips to get you started.

Look everywhere for water conservation

The shower and tub might be obvious places to start when you consider water conservation, but don't neglect your toilet and sink, either. There are fixes, big and small, and materials that you can employ to help cut your bathroom's water footprint way, way back.

Small room, big green consequences

Don't overlook your bathroom, just because it's smaller than your kitchen, for example. The decisions you make in here -- green materials, green habits, and more -- will echo throughout your entire house, affecting your utility bills and personal health. Don't skimp just because you might only spend 10 minutes a day in there.

As with any room in your home, there's a lot to think about when considering what materials to employ in your quest for a greener home; check our our full Green Materials Guide for Bathroom Designs to get started on a greener path in the bathroom today.
