Nothing says summer like a smokey barbeque. Make sure yours is good for your guests and the planet with this How to Go Green Guide.

Grilling out becomes the way to socialize in the summer time. Why would you hangout inside, when the most intricately decorated room in the house isn't in the house at all? Get grilling. But much of the grill out supplies that we use in the U.S. come in prepackaged plastic bottles, pre-made patties, and endless plastic dishes and utensils. Buying this prepackaged junk tastes so boring and it really does nothing to make your guests feel special, not to mention that it's pricey.

Wow your party guests with flower ice cubes.

When you throw a party, it's easy to be green if you're mindful of how your preparation affects the outcome. Today I'm inviting some friends over and together, we're having an eco-friendly fiesta! We're going to meet Karen, Kim and Jackie. They're throwing their annual block party and they want to figure out how to keep it green. We'll enjoy some grilled meats, vegetarian pinto beans, tomatillo-avocado salsa, watermelon, white peach and kiwi salsa, and a delicious chipotle cheese sauce. This is one green block party you don?t want to miss!

All sorts of tasty Americana fun can be found at carnivals and festivals, on boardwalks and block parties. But not all of the eats are good for you?or the planet. Use this guide to help navigate summer?s tantalizing treats before sinking another tooth into that corndog. Yes, I repeat. Step away from the corndog.

If you're looking for a delicious excuse for a midsummer get together, try a sustainable fish fry. A fish fry can be sustainable if you choose the right fish. Stay away from any fish that's larger than about the size of a salmon and check out the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Guide to ensure that you're making the best fish choice for the planet. This is no minor detail, in fact more and more fish are moving toward extinction. A fish fry is way easier on the planet if you plan ahead. Large, fatty and almost extinct fish like Bluefin tuna are not good for frying while many smaller and more abundant white fish like tilapia and triggerfish are often great for frying.
