I've been known to experiment a bit when it comes down to D.I.Y. beauty. Usually, I come across something good when I get creative and that's precisely what happened today. If you want to try your hand at this natural way to achieve a beautiful glow and smooth skin, here's the recipe I put together today for this mask.

My favorite part about caring for the environment is that it encourages the D.I.Y. spirit. I've always been a little on the crafty side and am more than happy to make something myself if it means that I'll save money and help out the planet by reducing my own consumption of chemical-infused products that are also often times packaging nightmares.

Strawberries can exfoliate the skin as well as anything. Exfoliation is often done with items like loofahs and sponges or anything else that can remove dead skin cells from the outer layer of the epidermis. Most of these devices aren't that detrimental to the environment.

Did you know that washing your hair less is actually good for your hair? The chemicals in shampoos and conditioners don't quite align with how our hair would operate naturally and they often times strip hair of important oils. On top of all of this, not washing your hair will save you water in shower time and money spent on unnecessary amounts of hair product.

I'm told the best things in life are free. While that may be true, I'd also say that some of the best things in life are cheap. Did you know that you can improve your nails without spending much money? Forget those visits to the nail salon. Improve the health of your nails the cheaper and greener, way. You don't have to tack on those plastic nails to your real ones. You don't have to spend money at the salon that you could put toward better use. All that you have to do is know the tricks!

This may sound pretty generic, but...I love the beach. Most people do. Why not bathe in the ocean roar and warm sunshine (as long as you're doing it safely)? Each year, I spend much of my summer sprawled on the sand with a book in hand. There's always something about my hair after a day at the beach that I have a hard time mustering up on non-beach days; particularly in the colder weather.

Most people aren't too eager to spoon expired yogurt into their mouths—even if it's only a few days expired. If you too have a problem with letting yours sit around a few days too long, I have a suggestion: use it to make a face mask.

A week before the holiday party you run through the checklist: Fabulous party dress? Check. Killer heels? Check. Flawless skin?er, not so much. If a blemish is threatening to burst your holiday bubble, take a calming breath and tramp down that urge to make a beeline for the pharmacy. While natural skin care lines are great alternatives to those tubes of chemical ooze, natural plant oils offer up some great solutions to your blemish woes.

calps don't get much love. I've never had a buddy nudge me and say, "Hey. Check out her scalp." But we all have scalps. They are there, just under our hair. Our scalps can be a source of consternation when they become afflicted with dandruff.

Hair gel can be a good thing. My hair is fine and straight, so I rarely need it. Some of my closest friends, however, were born with gorgeous thick curls that definitely are more manageable when under the influence of hair gel.
