Naturalists, here's one for you. Since 1951, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has championed preservation of the great outdoors, protecting important waterways and plots of land peppered around the globe. You can find their staff of 700 scientists working diligently towards conserving a host of habitats including fresh water, forests and marine ecosystems—from coral reefs to the rivers in Zambia and everywhere in between. If getting your hands a little dirty and your hair a little wet meets your eco-cool criteria, TNC is bound to tickle your green volunteer fancy.

Earth Day Activities and Volunteering at The Nature Conservancy

Spring Outside: For Earth Day, TNC is encouraging us to get outdoors to tune into Mother Nature and share our respective experiences on their online Earth Day portal. Whether it's your backyard, a nearby park, a mountain or beach—what better a way to celebrate our big, blue marble? If you want an even greener locale, locate a nature preserve to spend time at using TNC's interactive map.

Plant a Tree (or two, or three, or four!): Two years after TNC's Plant a Billion Trees partnership with Planet Green, the group has planter more than 5.8 million trees in Brazil's endangered, tropical Atlantic Forest. Help them conquer the billion tree mark by donating a dollar or two on the website. Just one dollar plants one tree!
