Reusing materials and turning them into something else is a great green way to keep products in the consumer stream. Plus, it saves loads of money. For this project, we used several pieces of leftover material from previous sewing projects. But the same thing can be accomplished by using old t-shirts, sweat pants, towels, sheets, placemats...anything at all that is nearing the end of its life in one form, and needs to be remade into something new.

What You'll Need:

  • Scrap Fabric (using a single type, like just t-shirts, or just towels will work best)—the amount depends on what size you'd like to make.

  • A paper bag

  • Fabric scissors

  • pins

  • Several yards of double fold bias tape, extra wide.

  • Thread to match color of your bias tape.

  • Sewing machine, or a needle and patience.
