Umbrellas are great if you have to keep the rain off your head. They aren't so great if you are fighting the Batman or trying to fly without "special nanny powers." As Wile. E. Coyote has demonstrated, umbrellas offer little protection from boulders. Also, earthquake pills do not work on road runners.
Real-life umbrellas should only be used to keep water away from your noggin, until they break. If your umbrella becomes unusable as a guard against downpours, then you might be best off reusing the umbrella in some form or another. Here are some ideas.
- If your first umbrella breaks down, use it for spare parts. Try to find a similar replacement umbrella. When the second umbrella needs a patch or a part, you'll have one on standby.
- You can make clothing out of umbrellas.
- Old umbrellas can easily become waterproof bags.
- Make a backpack cover from an umbrella.
- Turn that broken umbrella into a kite.
- Or why not make a magazine rack out of old umbrellas?
