Your Old Fabric Wants to be Your New Curtain Ties

If you think some of your fabric is on it's way out, consider turning it into a set of curtain ties.

Finding uses for old fabrics is one of my specialties. Fabric is an art form in itself, if you ask me, and it shouldn't be wasted. There are plenty of uses for fabric that has seemingly seen its day. One purpose for old fabric you can focus on today is curtain ties. I've always found that bright or unique curtain ties are a great way to add some character to otherwise bland curtains. The beauty of curtain ties is that they don't have to be on the curtain constantly. In fact, curtain ties can be used specifically when you want to add some flavor to a room and taken off for other times.

Before you throw out any piece of fabric, consider whether it could make for a good set of curtain ties. Turning old fabric into a curtain tie is easy. All that you need to do is cut the fabric into two strips, as thick as you want. For a cleaner look, hem the edges of the fabric. Fringed edges, however, have a certain charm, too.

Fabric sources to keep in mind:

Reusing is a crucial part of being green. Anything we can do to keep the landfills in this world empty(er) is a step toward a cleaner planet. Reuse your fabric as curtain ties and watch how fashionable being green can be.
