Has your hair spent too many days under the blow-dryer? Been a couple years since you sported your natural hair color? As you may have noticed, heat styling and chemical processing can often cause the hair to become dry, brittle and weak.

Looking for a quick fix? A DIY homemade hair remedy can do the trick. There are tons of natural and effective recipes out there that will help strengthen your hair. Many of them revolve around one ingredient: Egg Whites.

Egg whites are practically pure protein, and excellent at fortifying the hair shaft. When combined with yogurt, they'll make for a great mask, especially is your hair has undergone too much chemical processing.

Just be aware that while the protein in egg whites does help strengthen the hair, it can also be drying. So you may want to follow your treatment up with another deep moisturizing treatment.

Egg White Hair Mask Recipe

  1. Beat 1-2 egg whites until foamy.

  2. Mix in 5 tablespoons of plain yogurt (the fatty kind).

  3. Apply mixture evenly throughout your hair-it helps to work through small sections at a time.

  4. Leave on hair for 20 minutes, and rinse out with cold or lukewarm water.

Make sure water is not hot or the egg whites will cook in your hair. Yuck.
