The holidays can be a time to shine. My family has never been one to have a formal holiday. We often spend Christmas in our pjs just hanging out and enjoying each other. I have no complaints about that. I love the laid back nature of my parents. But once in a while the holidays, especially the New Year, call for a bit of glam. A little extra shine in the makeup, a sequin or two, or some extra curl in your hair. Here are my tips for glamming it up while keeping it green this holiday season:
- Try an updo.
Updos are great for two reasons. One, you don't need to buy anything which is great in this junky economy and it also reduces your personal consumption. Two, if you're like me and you rarely sport on updo, they add a totally new look to your repertoire. Seriously, my first updo was on my wedding day and ever since then I've been a huge fan because I can dance the night away and not have to think twice about my hair. - Invest in a good green dress.
The perfect little cocktail dress makes you feel like a million bucks, but often the earth pays a far larger price for the use of unnatural fabrics. Luckily designers are catching on; check out these great eco-friendly cocktail dress designers. Here's my guide to green cocktail dresses. - Add some emerald.
Emerald liner can dress up your eyes in a flash. Line your upper and lower lash line with some emerald green liner. Here are the ingredients to avoid when you're shopping for your liner.
