Artist and jewelry designer Anneli Rufus has a great way to get a girl out of credit card debt and in to style at the same time. She's postsed a how-to instructional for making a hip bracelet from credit cards.
As Rufus states, "Can't afford anymore to use credit cards as they were meant to be used? Hey, cut 'em up and make new heirlooms. And keep a bit more plastic out of landfills while you're at it."
In the photos above, check out the wonderful choker she just completed for inspiration on making your own jewelry. She used all free reclaimed objects for the beads and chain, and a credit card segment for the eye-catching charm. It took her less than an hour to make, and didn't cost a cent!
As you can see, not only credit cards work for making unique eco-friendly accessories. Rufus also used an old telephone card to make an interesting bracelet. Dig up some used gift cards, old credit cards, club membership cards or anything else laying in your junk drawer and refashion them into hot new jewelry!
