If you're in the market for a bag that can charge up your gadgets, but haven't come across one that quite suits your personality, craft-minded Mark Farina has come up with a very stylish solution.

Dig through your closet for your favorite bag, or find a great deal at a thrift store, and follow his instructions on adding in a solar cell. In a quick afternoon of crafting, you'll walk out the door armed and ready to take your gadgets off-grid without sacrificing your fashion sense.

Don't be intimidated at the possibility of putting together your own solar-powered handbag. The materials and steps are simple. All you need are a few Watt Panels, a circuit box set, a JetPack battery set, and a few crafting materials including a craft knife, super glue and needle and thread. The steps are basic, including a few slices to clear a place for the solar panels, securing them, sewing in some wiring, and voila! You're done.

In terms of pricing, the project is as cheap or more so than most other solar powered bags on the market, with parts (not including your handbag of choice) totaling between $100 and $200 depending on how many solar cells you add. This is quite a competitive price. Plus, you have a fun afternoon of crafting, and a once-of-a-kind fashion accessory - that's priceless.
