Toothpaste can be kind of tricky. We use it to clean our mouths and yet, we're told not to ingest the paste on the back of the tube. If there are so many chemicals in toothpaste that it's unsafe to swallow it, should we really be putting it in our mouths? This question has been raised more and more lately and people are starting to come up with some answers.
It's true that toothpastes don't necessarily include the best chemicals. In fact, some of the ingredients in toothpaste have been proven to be linked to the development of breast cancer, damage to the gums and the skin, and they're even said to disrupt hormone parabens. This doesn't sound like the kind of trouble I should be dealing with because of something as simple as toothpaste...and neither should you!
Luckily, there are alternatives for you in the toothpaste department. There are some companies out there that take steps to make toothpaste that doesn't include the additives that might be harmful, but they still meet all federal safety guidelines.
