EcoDance Seattle offers a form of dance that begins with an instructor who facilitates "a brief discussion around that week's theme, leads a meditation, facilitates a free-form movement experience and then brings the circle together again for an opportunity to share the experience with other participants."
Elsewhere, The Nightfire Performance Group has put together an "outdoor dance theater series in various urban and natural locations, our intention is to allow the places and seasons to speak through us, while weaving into them human elements of creativity and mythic imagination." The goal is to draw dancers and audience into "a sense of kinship."
Earthdance's aims go beyond the environment into the related realms of peace and justice. It has been "described by the music industry as the 'Dance Aid' for the new millennium. The aim of the event is to bring together global communities to create a synchronized global festival and dance event to help fund humanitarian causes and develop an environment of peace throughout the global community."
