Unless you're an urbanite swimming in sea of green, high-end boutiques and some serious green moolah, it could seem difficult freshening up your wardrobe with pieces that are both low-impact on the earth and your wallet. Online stores like Patagonia and Greenloophave excellent offerings but they'll remain at a pretty penny until there is more consumer demand.

Luckily, consumer demand is on the increase and mainstream brands are taking note.JCPenney, the department store chain, is helping make eco-fashion cheap and accessible in places like the 'burbs. Here is a short-list of some of their Spring/Fall '08 threads:
