Some of the highest rankers in the fashion industry will be the first people to tell you that accessorizing is everything. A simple outfit with the right accessories can go incredibly far, for any occasion. But so many accessories out there on the market are made in factories that use tons of energy and aren't very green at all. With all of the green products on the line these days and the infinite availability of used accessories, there's no reason why we shouldn't all be greener with our accessories.
So here are some ideas:
Explore Thrift Stores, Ebay, and other used accessories sources. Used accessories, if you ask me, are the best kind. I'm a total sucker for the ever-so-popular vintage look. Be it hats, jewelry, bags... whatever, there's something very charming about accents that have some history.
Research brands. Tons of brands are coming out, especially online, that make totally green products--including accessories.
Reuse. If you have an accessory you like that breaks, at least try to revamp it or fix it before getting a new one.
The answer? Always reevaluate what it is you're buying before you buy it. If there's a way for you to accessorize while helping our planet to be more green--do it!
