Bottle caps can be tricky to recycle. Why not just turn them into a necklace?

Bottle caps are a pain in the butt. It's difficult to recycle them (Whole Foods will take them, but if you're not near a Whole Foods, you need to find ways to reuse them). Reusing bottle caps, which is absolutely the green alternative to throwing them away, requires a bit of creativity. If you've got a collection of bottle caps growing, try making this funky green necklace with them.

How to make a funky reused bottle cap necklace:

  1. Gather your bottle caps. Wash them out thoroughly.

  2. Puncture holes through each cap individually. You can do this by heating something sharp, like a needle, and pushing it through the cap. If you don't like this idea, you could just hammer a small nail through each cap and then remove it.

  4. Decorate the caps however you see fit. I decided to paint all of mine a mustard yellow with eco-friendly paint.

  6. String them together, tie your necklace in the back, and enjoy!

This project is a great way to reuse bottle caps and sport a green necklace while you're at it.
