The chill is already in the air. Summer is gone, fall is flying by, and winter is fast approaching. Bundling up in a trendy coat is critical to my style. While down here in South Carolina, I don't have to wear them as often, but when I lived in DC, the coat was the most seen aspect of a winter wardrobe. A frumpy coat means a frumpy outfit as far as I'm concerned. Do you remember in The Devil Wears Prada when Andrea Sachs started sporting designer winter coats, her entire look changed instantaneously?
Without anymore tangents, I'll say, find a coat that is both stylish and green at the same time. Coats are one of the best green items because you don't buy that many of them, so when you do, they should be made of high quality, all natural ingredients and not highly processed cheap fabrics.
Here are some great green coat designers:
- Check out the Delano Collection. I love the Ramona Coat, even the name says fashionista. It's made with an organic wool shell and a bamboo lining.
- Go wild with Loyale's Costilla jacket. It's off beat, fun, and made with the greenest faux fur around. Instead of being made from nasty acrylics and polyesters, this one is made from 100 percent organic cotton grown in Texas.
- I love Julia Burnbaum's eco-friendly coats. She's a newly converted green designer and has come out with a stunning line of green coats that utilize all sustainable fabrics and are fair trade. You'll find so many great styles that you won't even know where to begin.
