No matter what your political affiliation is, yesterday was a historic day. You may want to commemorate this significant period in history, but you’ll want to do it in a responsible and eco-friendly way. Why not repurpose an old shirt  to celebrate this momentous election?  You’ll be saving resources by making something yourself, and you’ll be reusing a shirt that might have fallen into disuse anyways. I recommend using a shirt that has a stain and covering that stain with the stencil or design but only if it will completely block out the stain.

There are many different styles of DIY Obama T-shirts on the web. One of the best designs, in my opinion, is by Justina from Compai. She recommends making an Obama shirt out of an old shirt or at least from organic cotton,  a very green suggestion indeed.  You can watch her “Make an Obama Shirt. ” Compai is an eco-conscious design company and the walk through keeps those green ideas in mind.

About.com also has a stencil design for an Obama T-shirt. You’ll need screen-printing gear for this one. Or you can just attach the designs in the same manner that Justina did.
